"What does fashion mean to me"

Fashion has always been an essential word in my life. I have cherished the word fashion ever since I was old enough to go shopping and decided I wanted to dress the mannequins the way I thought they would look good. Fashion for me is a way I am able to express myself freely without anyone else opinion or judgment going into the process. For me, it is a glimpse into my personality and I feel the same with other people's style identity. Fashion gives me confidence, it allows me to be exactly who I want to be through clothes, accessories, and makeup. We have seen fashion being used as a form of self-expression for years. It is truly more than just making money off a collection rather seeing the authentic expression from people when they find exactly what they want or have dreamed of owning. Fashion is a way of saying nothing but being able to introduce yourself to a crowd and that's my favorite part about it. You walk around the city here and you are surrounded by thousands of people and all you see has a different sense of style, and all with a different story and that's the beautiful thing about fashion, it's so inclusive and diverse.

Fashion has also been a large thing in my life ever since I was little. My great-grandmother was a designer, and my aunt started mentioning fashion once I was at the age to understand. I think fashion connects me with my family as well in a way that we see trends today that reflect on the era my parents grew up in so it's definitely a family tie between the two. I now get to wear some of my mom's stuff and even my grandpa's items that would be considered vintage today. It is so cool being able to wear such a thing especially when it has such a valuable meaning to it.

As mentioned previously, I think fashion is a glimpse of my personality. Fashion is a way for me to not only embrace myself but also embrace others. It is connectivity, and a way I can get along with people as well. It inhabits a sense of understanding without even knowing the person. It has brought me into clubs with people who feel the exact same way I do about fashion and has brought me some amazing things throughout these clubs. It has also brought me the opportunity to study in New York as well as being able to do a lot of amazing things throughout NYFW. I feel that I have gained valuable friendships just by speaking up about if I like something someone. is wearing. Fashion has made me into the person I am today and it has allowed me to have the confidence worn with me when I put on something that makes me feel good and also makes me feel seen.
